The Phadebas® Forensic press test
The Phadebas® Forensic press test is routinely used in forensic biology to detect and identify hidden saliva stains on any type of surfaces. Locating saliva stains is a challenging task to perform with light sources, such as for example the Crimescope, as these stains don't fluoresce. Success will depend on which type and what color of surface you're investigating. A recent study has shown that as many as 40% of saliva stains on garments go undetected when using alternate light sources. With Phadebas, this is no longer an issue - if there's saliva on the investigated exhibit, you will find it!

The Phadebas® Forensic tube test
A powerful compliment to the Press Test is the Phadebas® Forensic tube test. The tube test is more sensitive than the press test and used semi-quantitatively for the presumptive testing of saliva deposits.
If it is suspected that the stain to be tested is a weak saliva stain, or if testing the supernatant from an extracted stain or swab, Phadebas tube test offers a better method than Phadebas paper.

FORENSIC STUDY
An independent study of modern techniques for saliva screening was presented by Myers and Adkins at the AAFS in 2007. The author's findings are truly important for the understanding of what goes and what doesn't in this field.
